Teachers

Katie Ekberg is a Twin Cities based violinist, violist, and teacher. She is an instructor of Suzuki Violin, Viola, and Suzuki Early Childhood Education at St. Joseph’s School of Music in St. Paul, Minnesota.  She received her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, and went on to earn her Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Delaware where she was the Graduate Violin Teaching Assistant. As an active member of the Suzuki community, Katie has registered Teacher Training in Books 1 through 6 of Suzuki Violin, Viola Books 1-3 Overview, and Suzuki Early Childhood Education Stages 1 through 3 from the American Suzuki Institute and the Greater Washington Suzuki Institute. She is currently serving on the board of the Suzuki Association of Minnesota. A passionate chamber musician, Katie can be heard performing around the Twin Cities with the Bishop String Trio.  Katie is dedicated to creating an engaging and nurturing environment that encourages students to find joy in developing musical ability to their fullest potential.

Meredith Vaughan is a Twin Cities based violinist and teacher. She is on the faculty of St. Joseph’s School of Music and performs actively in a variety of chamber ensembles. She holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Violin Performance from Vanderbilt University and a Master’s of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Minnesota. She completed long-term training in Every Child Can! and books 1-4 with Carol Smith, and long-term training covering books 1-10 and a Suzuki Practicum course with Mark Bjork. She has also completed Stage 1 through 3 of Suzuki Early Childhood Education training with Sharon Jones.

In addition to teaching and performing, Meredith currently serves as Secretary on the board of directors for the Suzuki Association of Minnesota (SAM), as Volunteer Coordinator for SAM’s Graduation program, and on the staff of the Colorado Suzuki Institute.
